It’s March . . . finally. My favorite season, except for the wind and waves of winter weather. I look around my home and the dozens of begonias I have as “mother plants” are putting out growth. I got cuttings the other day – but it will be about 5 months before they go to market. Fortunately, the nursery is still pretty full.

I am trying to shift to more of an art focus with my business. So, besides my local live plants, I have lots going on. My Etsy shop features a Potter’s Sale – 25% of any of my handmade and/or handpainted pots. And, my gorgeous begonia and hosta leaf castings are 30% off! These are made with sturdy but rustic-looking hypertufa and painted to look like the original leaf. Yes, the leaves are from my own begonia and hosta plants.

My local Country Flair booth has two varieties of spotted leaf rhizomatous begonia on sale for only $8. These are well-established plants that do well in Western Colorado. I also have my Easter Lily cacti plants on sale this month – it’s timely, although these bloom in July in our climate. For more growing instructions, see my Midwife’s Nursery page. Starting this spring, I will have plant-growing tips on my Facebook and Instagram pages. Be sure to follow Art from the Hartt on social media.

My Country Flair booth turned from a pink/red to a green theme today (photos below, March is on the left) and it wasn’t just begonias. I have my large leaf castings on sale for $10 off the regular prices. The car/auto succulent planters that are green in color are also on sale. And, the green gnomes (they make great leprechauns) are also on an incredible mark-down this month.

This post is dedicated to my calico kitty, Soksabai. We had 18 precious years together.
