My name is Cathy Hartt, and for nearly 40 years my hands were devoted to the art and science of nursing. From earning my RN at Colorado Mesa in 1983 to completing my Doctor of Nursing Practice at Frontier Nursing University, I served families as a Certified Nurse-Midwife, a Quality Improvement Specialist, and an educator mentoring future nurses. I’ve been honored to stand beside people in some of life’s most meaningful moments.
For more than 20 years, I also studied positive psychology and human wellbeing — exploring what truly helps people flourish. Joy, beauty, resilience, connection. That lifelong interest now guides my creative work just as much as my clinical background once did.
In 2021, while renovating an old cement patio at my home, I discovered an unexpected new medium: concrete. I was captivated by its strength, texture, and the whimsical possibilities hidden in such a rugged material. What began as a retirement hobby quickly evolved into Art from the Hartt — a creative practice rooted in durability, craftsmanship, and delight.
Today, I design artwork intentionally created to increase everyday wellbeing — pieces that spark joy, invite conversation, and make ordinary spaces feel special.
My signature creations include:
- Seasonal Cement Gnomes – Full of personality and handcrafted charm, these sturdy little guardians celebrate the seasons and bring warmth to porches, gardens, and entryways.
- Whimsical Automotive Succulent Planters – Hand-painted VW Bugs and Buses inspired by the free-spirited “Van Life” vibe with a Colorado twist — perfect for plant lovers who appreciate nostalgia and fun.
- Hypertufa Garden Art, Tile Clocks, Fluid Acrylic Pours, and Wood Earrings – Textured, colorful pieces designed to add character indoors and out.
- Pearl Lake Heritage Collection – a small collection of handcrafted works inspired by the mountain landscape surrounding Pearl Lake in Colorado
- Coming this spring and summer, I’ll also be introducing a new collection of Black Canyon and Colorado-inspired gnomes, featuring artistic finishes inspired by the dramatic geology and natural beauty of our region.
Whether you discovered my work locally at Country Flair in Montrose or through my Etsy and GoImagine shops, thank you for supporting a nurse-owned small business. Each piece is created with the same care, intention, and attention to detail that guided my four decades in healthcare — only now, my goal is to nurture wellbeing through art.
Thank you for supporting my small business.
